Nowadays there are over 635 million websites in the world but be warned some websites may give you viruses, come up with inappropriate things or just totally lie to you. These can be very annoying but there are some useful tips on how to avoid them:
• Web address - Some web addresses don’t contain www. Most websites without www. usually give fake information or are not meant for publicity. So check before you go on the web page!
• Do you trust your eyes - lots of websites contain adverts and pop ups, some of which claim some amazing thing but in the end are probably fake. To prevent this make sure you turn pop ups off and don’t click on dodgy advertisements. As the old saying goes ‘too good to be true!’
• Files - Some things on Google search may not always be a web page. E.g. [PDF] Good to Know - internet safety tips and advice from ... – AdviceGuide like this link it has [PDF], this means it is not actually a web page. So read the small print!



Online Banking
Online banking has been a popular thing since 1995. The thing is too many peoples’ accounts get hacked/ falsely used. Here are so some useful tips on how to keep your money:
• Passwords - Make sure you have a different password for your bank account than your social network password and your email password.
Pass and password are very popular passwords, they are easy to remember and they are quick, what’s not to like? The fact that they are too popular and too easy to guess. For choosing the best secure password make sure you include: Symbols, Numbers, make it CaSE SeNsITivETy and make sure it is easy to remember. Importantly make sure you keep your password secret.
• Websites - Some websites may not actually be the really banking site. There are ways of getting around it though. For example, using an Abbey account, when you have typed in the details a specialised picture and sentence/ word comes up and if it matches the ones that you set you know that it is the correct website.



Social networking
Google plus, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterests and LinkedIn are some of the best social networking sites in the world. Doesn’t mean they’re safe though. Here some useful tips on how to be safe:
