Through the use of characterization, setting, and plot development, the theme of ambition is obvious seen throughout the play Macbeth. Macbeth the protagonist of the story because Macbeth was constantly pressured to do things that he did not want to but he was pressured to do things that he did not want to but he was pressured by his wife Lady Macbeth. He was pressured because he had a chance to become king and his wife wanted him too for example, when Lady Macbeth says, “We fail? But screw your courage to the sticking place and we’ll not fail. Lady Macbeth is saying that do not be a wimp and have courage. Which leads to the Antagonist which is Lady Macbeth.

Lady Macbeth is the antagonist of the story Macbeth because the whole time Lady Macbeth was trying to monopolize macbeth to kill Macduff’s family so that there would be no one else would take over the throne so that macbeth would take over the throne. Like when Lady Macbeth said “Thou a wouldst be great art not without ambition, but without the illness should attend it.” What she was saying is that have some guts and go do what I said. That is why I think Lady Macbeth is the Antagonist.
