Mining is big business
A. Some people got Gold from streams or scratched particles of gold from the surface
B. Most gold was found underground.
The mining frontier
A. Gold created boomtown overnight around different mining areas.
B. All gold towns had everything from hotels to banks.
c. People who lived there came from areas far.
d. Since there was a lot of money and gold it also carried violence like stealing.
e. Citizens were vigilantes since there were very few police and prisons.
f. Woman wanted to be a part of all this so they found work like cooks, laundresses, and dance hall entertainers.
g. The mining towns didn’t have an abundant supply of gold therefore the towns became empty when there was no gold left and turned in to ghost towns.
