Bill Gate's Eleven Rule of Life

Uploaded by poche on Mar 22, 2007

The title above is an example of a rumor as it has appeared in a website called truth or fiction. The content of the website is actually questioning the originality of Bill Gate’s speech in a high school graduation. In his speech, Bill Gates introduced students with Eleven Rules of Life that students did not learn in school. Rules that you will need or you will experience it when you enter a real life. The rumor said that Bill Gate's Eleven Rules of Life were actually from a book “ Dumbing Down our kids by Charles Sykes.

My reaction to what I just read is that does not matter where the rules first came from as long as they were intended for a good purpose then they are fine for me. Because if I think about it. One or two or may be many times in our life as we realize it or not, we quoted what had other people said or wrote. For instance, we said “God Bless You” which was from the bible. We also quoted idiomatic words, which were originally from a book. Even a teacher quoted lines from books.

Moreover I think that what had Bill Gate’s said were good quotes. They brought a positive respond from a lot of people. Assumed that the original The Rules of Life were from Charles Sykes and Bill Gates didn't make any speech about those rules. Would the influences of the rules be as power full as and as famous as they came from Bill Gate’s speech? Bill Gates is the richest man in the world. He is a role model to most of people. Therefore, in this case he should be considered to contribute value too

In addition, I feel that if protocol becomes strictly followed such as in knowledge, philosophy or something such as in this case, “who quoted who is matter”? Then our world would not be so advanced. Knowledge would not be so well spread.

In conclusion, for me, it doesn’t matter where The Rules of Life originally came from as long as they have positive values. I will ignore the rumor.
