Call of the Wild Literary Devices

First, I will explain the Symbolism in the novel.
The first thing that Jack London symbolizes in this book is Buck, He is betrayed by someone he trusts and enters a hard world, which you either work or be discarded. He adapts, and becomes the leader of a wolf pack. London makes Buck a symbol that is really great because instead of lying around doing nothing, he learns to work, fight or steal food, or he would have died of starvation. The second thing London symbolizes is Mercedes, she represents what is weak in a society because she just can’t live without her wants, like her clothes, a suitcase would have been okay, but she brought all of them. She doesn’t know how to walk, so when her team ask her to get off the sled and walk for a while, she refused, and was dropped off right there, but when her team set up camp, they decide to go back and pick up Mercedes, they thought they should have never brought her. Here are some others, Buck was betrayed by a friend for a sack of gold, a temporary wealth, buck would have been happy if he stayed at judge millers place if it hadn’t been for the gold rush. Charles, Hal and Mercedes wouldn’t have died if it weren’t for the gold rush. Thornton and his camp wouldn’t have been killed if they weren’t looking for gold. All the characters would have been happy if it hadn’t been for gold. When Buck jumps and cuts open the throat vein of the Yeehat chief, he kills them along with other Indians’, the vein is another symbol, it symbolizes Buck’s last tie with civilization.
Now I will explain the piece of foreshadowing one in the novel.
There is only one moment in the novel that I recognized the foreshadowing. Buck has a foreshadow because of the urges from the wild, because his he’s going to eventually transform into a wild creature; which are the starving dogs that attacked the teams camp in chapter three. This foreshadows the hunger that happens to them during their journey will Hal, Charles, and Mercedes.
