Climate Change Breakdown

When you hear the words “Climate Change” and “Global Warming” most people don't think twice about it. Many people on this earth are having their lives ruined by disrupting the norm through changes in our climate. Around the world, people and communities are being hit hard by the impacts of global warming. Climate Change is leading towards higher temperatures and catastrophic weather conditions which in turn causes diseases, health problems, breathing in toxic air, and other serious injuries. I only bring this up to show just how important and prevalent that Climate Change is today. Now it is true that no matter how long it takes, this planet is on it's way out. Elizabeth Weise, a journalist for USA Today made the statement, “there will be a doomsday scenario for humans if we don’t start dealing with climate change, suggests that by 2050, we could see irreversible damage to global climate systems resulting in a world of chaos” (Weise 2019). However, hope is not lost because luckily there are people who organize social movements to motivate others to help keep our earth alive.
One of the biggest movements going on today is the #FFF (Fridays For Future) movement. This is a movement that began in August 2018, after 15 years old Greta Thunberg protested for weeks on how nothing is being done to help. Fridays For Future burst onto the scene mostly through the use of social media. The hashtag blew up on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and other platforms. This was the grievance that caused an uproar to motivate people to join this movement. People from all around the world started to pay attention to what was happening. Students and adults were holding rallies, they were protesting, going on strike; so many Social Movements started to happen and just like that, the Climate Change revolution was started.
In addition to #FFF, another Social Movement came in to play: the Extinction Rebellion. While the #FFF and the Extinction Rebellion are completely different, both are fighting for the same cause. Part of the Rebellion is targeting Fashion Statements by taking part in acts of civil disobedience along with blaming the government for their non-actions.
