Shakespeare is the most famous writer of all time, and the winner of tragic plays. Macbeth is one of them. Just like many other plays of Shakespeare, Macbeth follows the tragic pattern. It includes many parts such as antagonist, protagonist, rising action, falling action, and resolution. The play is builds follow the tragic pattern between the protagonist and antagonist, the rising and falling action, and resolution at last.
At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is a very good leader that brings many victories to the king Duncan. With high credit, brave in battle and devotion of loyalty to the king Duncan, Macbeth receives the title, thane of Cawdor. After the day that Macbeth meets the witches, and everything they say orderly comes true, he will become the thane of Cawdor, and then the king of Scotland. His ambition grows bigger and bigger days after days. Macbeth becomes the thane of Cawdor but he cannot become the king because of the king of Scotland- Duncan is still alive. Duncan is an antagonist that blocks Macbeth as a protagonist in his way to the throne, and that leads Macbeth to the rising action in the play.
At the day Duncan comes to Macbeth’s house, Macbeth plans to kill Duncan, but he cannot since his loyalty to the king is still in his heart. Lady Macbeth appears and supports Macbeth’s idea of killing Duncan. After getting rid of the king, as the person that next in the line, Macbeth automatically becomes king of Scotland. As the result, the prophecy of the witches comes true, and Macbeth worries about people, who threaten his throne, being alive. Therefore, he cannot live happily. In addition, to protect his throne, Macbeth sends the murderers to kill them all. Alerting about the danger, Macduff runs away to England to get support from the king of England, and Fleance escapes from the murderers which leads Macbeth to the battle between him and Macduff.
Believing in what the witches say, when the Birnam Wood moves to the Dunsinane Hill, no men that woman-born can harm him. With such impossible things, Macbeth feels confident, fearless, and graceful more than ever. Again, the witches’ prophecy comes true, people and soldiers see the wood starts moving to the castle, the death of Lady Macbeth. Everybody runs away, but Macbeth.
