Marxism is an ideology that was created by Karl Marx stating that our world is ruled by a class society. In this society, the poor lower class are poor and the rich upper class make sure the system remains in place to keep the lower class poor. “Thus, for Marx, historical change is economically caused by the struggle to control production. The origins of classes and the resulting class conflict were economically determined.” (232) In this quote, Gutek explains how the classes in our society are formed economically, or monetarily. The amount of money someone acquires or earns places them a status in the society.
