Reasons for an Appeal for more Financial Aid
I am writing to appeal against the current bar from financial aid I receive to support my education. I understand that changing my major from communication design to general study by transferring to VCU dental hygienist program has led to the cancellation of the financial aid. However, I feel that I should receive the financial aid since I have finally found my interest in the field of dentistry. Initially, I was in Art, but after gaining some experience in the field of dental hygiene, I have developed a special passion in this career.
In the previous classes, I acknowledge to have had retakes in some courses like introduction to communication, mathematics, and history. However, there were unavoidable circumstances that made not to pass successfully in these classes such as low confidence and loss of interest in arts. In light of this, continuing with the Arts may not lead to a successful career that suits my future. In fact, I have a feeling that if I continue to receive financial aid to support my education in arts, it will be a waste of time.
An important aspect to note is that I completed six courses during the summer semester and managed to get a voluntary job with the county dental clinic. The experience that I have gained has increased my confidence in pursuing dentistry as a career. Also, my perception towards education has greatly changed as I am passionate and determined to be a dentist. In regard to this, I will work hard to achieve a better GPA in this field of study, which is also my dream career. However, this will come true if I receive the financial aid as it is my only source of finance for my school fees. Later on, I will pursue higher academic qualifications, bearing in mind that my greatest passion is to pursue a degree of my choice that will see me become a successful immigrant and a woman of substance in life.
Best Regards
