Studying the Differences between Men and Women

Studying the Differences between Men and Women

How does men and women are respectively treated and represent today in our culture? I think in order to answer this question, we have to look at the history of our each culture. Since many years ago, the representation of men is always refers to dominant, powerful and influential. On the hand, the representation of women in general is always fragile, romantic and soft. The domination of men over women can be seen from education wise to taking charge of politics involvement. For example, men are the ones that are send to the war. However, I felt that this gender inequality have changed in this culture today. Women today seem tougher but yet they still do not received as much respect as they should have. I think the reason why women are being underrated by men is because men tend to put things ahead and felt that women does not have the capability to accomplish a work. Or maybe, men felt that the responsibility of a woman is to take care of household and not a serious duty. In my opinion, it might be true that women today dominate many graduates of master and bachelor degrees but I still think that the capability of women to do some of the job have not caught up to the standard yet. I’m not trying to underrate the capability of women but this is what I see and maybe it’s the way thing are already constructed. Sports are the best example to show the differences between the men and women. For example, if we watched a men’s basketball game, the game is always be more exciting not just because men have the ability to dunk but the pace of the game is much faster than women’s basketball game. Personally, I think some culture still practice the patriarchy system.

In class, patriarchy is defined as a social system in which the father is the head of the family and men have authority over women and children. For example, the current issues of patriarchy system can be seen in the some parts of the Middle Eastern culture where women are required to fully dress.
