THE LARAMIE PROJECT FIRST IMPRESSION

Uploaded by sharianne on Nov 02, 2012

MINE!!!!!!! FIRST IMPRESSION

After reading the play, THE LARAMIE PROJECT, I'd like it. It was very interesting and very different from other plays that I have read before because you almost expect it's just like definite story line but it was a documentary type but at the same time if you look at documentary point of view, it didn't seem like a typical documentary, it's really different. From this work, the script that I am reading are the actual words of real people, some folks who are even living now, working and interacting with each other in a small western city. Although at the beginning, I felt bored and confused especially that it was really difficult to keep up with the characters because there are so many of them and that makes it difficult to keep track who is who. As I was reading it, I have to remember the characters but not every detail what they said and I did understand theme of the story. I was a bit overwhelmed by many characters when the author introduced them but then I became used to it and otherwise wasn't able to remember the specific names of the minor characters whilst I could remember their opinions of Mathews death.

This story portrays the real residents of Laramie, in several ways. The intention of this basically is to bring out the feelings, understandings, interpretations and opinions about the LGBT community. It shows the issues going on in the world with prejudice through inner viewing that personally doubt with all of this.

This The Laramie Project did an excellent job in exploring the opinions regarding the homosexuality especially in this small town of Wyoming. Comparing the script from those plays I have read, the storyline was so different from them Instead of having a linear plot by going from event to event. The whole play was a composition of inner views surrounding the event which was Matthew Shepard's attacked. I just felt disgusted about the fact that this is not a work of fiction yet an actual record of inner views which horrified me to imagine this kind of true story. In general, I am glad that I have read this and will be playing this to bring out the inner views of the main theme.
