The Depiction of Troy in The Iliad and in Film

Uploaded by :

This 5 page paper discusses the differences between the depiction of Troy in Homer's epic poem The Iliad and the recent film Troy. The writer argues that the poem conveys a sense of a civilization that is distinctly different from that of the Western world today, while the characters in the film could fit in with today's society. Thus, despite its special effects, the film ultimately loses its sense of history, something the poem retains. There are 2 sources listed in the bibliography.
