Psychology of Love v. Hate

Uploaded by : Essays-Now.com

A 3 page research paper that discusses love and hate. The words “love” and “hate” are used rather carelessly in popular culture and each has a broad meaning. Within the lexicon of psychology, love is “experienced as a perception of reality” and it is intrinsically tied to motivation, and “encourages healthy growth” (Clough, 2006, p. 23). Hate, conversely, appears to have its origin in factors that inhibit positive emotional, cognitive and physical growth (Gilligan, 2003). An examination of the psychology of love and hate shows that these two factors are inextricably linked in that an absence of love seems to inevitably lead to the poisoned personality constructs of people who hate.
