Reparations for Slavery

Uploaded by : Essays-Now.com

A 3 page essay that argues against the social movement that demands reparations for slavery. The reparations for slavery movement proposes that the United States federal government should, first of all, apologize to the descendents of slaves for the fact that the despicable institution of slavery was legally sanctioned in both colonial and early American history. Secondly, this movement proposes that financial reparations should be made to the descendents of slaves. While, on the surface, this argument has merit, as this aspect of American history is recognized as reprehensible, a thoughtful examination of the issues involved shows that making reparations for slavery is simply not feasible, either from a social justice or fiscal perspective.
