This paper provides an overview and a comparison of the lives and characteristics of two central female characters in American literature, Caddy from Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury and Daisy from Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. This paper relates the theme that these two girls were essentially lost and must be saved. Both of these characters look for their salvation in the hands of the men in their lives, who may in fact be the people from whom these women need to be saved.
