The welfare state was created as people needed more help to survive. It became apparent after the Great Depression in the early 1930s following the Stock Market crash of 1929. The recession of 2008, brought this issue to the forefront of analysts’ minds again because the social programs have a limited time before they are broke. This has given rise to call for neo-liberalist ideology to be adopted. Some believe that neo-liberalism is better suited for globalizing efforts.
