Organizational Behavior Problem in Hospitals

A study by the Joint Commission revealed that communication failures were implicated at the root of over 70 percent of sentinel events in hospitals. The Commission was identifying poor communication or a lack of communication between providers. A lack of communication between physicians, between physicians and nurses, between residents and attending physicals, between physicians and consultants, and between hospitals and other hospitals results in a lack of quality of patient care, longer hospital stays, patients returning to hospitals days after discharge, and all sorts of complications for the patient.
