What Citizenship Means To Me
Citizenship is important to me. If citizenship were important to everyone, then this world would be a much better place to live. I would like to talk about a few things I think we could do to be better citizens.
I would first like to talk about respect. Respect for our country means cleaning up after yourself and never littering. If you see garbage lying around, you should pick it up. It means always saluting the flag. It means not saying bad things about our president. It means supporting the president in his decisions. It means doing what we can to help in our local community. It means treating all people nicely and not putting others down. It means standing up for what is right, no matter what. I think respect is a very important part of citizenship!
I think another good way to show citizenship is to be patriotic. We can be patriotic by supporting our soldiers. It would be very hard to be away from your family and fighting in a war, so we should make sure to tell them thank you for fighting so hard for our country. If we know someone who’s mom or dad is in Iraq, we should be really nice to them and help them when we can, because it would be really hard to have your mom or dad gone for such a long time.
I think being a good citizen means helping when there is a natural disaster, like Hurricane Katrina and Rita. We could help by donating money to the Red Cross or helping with a fundraiser like our school has done.
I hope we can all try harder to be good citizens. If everyone would try a little harder I think it would make a big difference. Citizenship means a lot to me and I’m going to always do my best to be a good citizen.
